Bugle Boys

Before The Spice Girls, before Bananarama, before The Supremes, there was The Andrews Sisters. During the late 1930s and 1940s this original girl group was a global sensation, selling millions of records. In Bugle Boys, three sassy female impersonators bitch, squabble, and sing some of The Andrews Sisters most beloved songs, delivering a hilarious and ludicrously fictitious tale of their life and career. An original Australian production, Bugle Boys will have its European premiere in Edinburgh this summer.

Show herstory

This unique show was conceived and written by John Livings, originally produced by Moira Bennett (Room 8), and saw its stage debut at Melbourne’s Chapel Off Chapel in October 2015.

Frocked-up to the nines in faux military costumes, the three ‘girls’ had audiences in stitches from the outset, garnering rave reviews and sell-out performances.

In February 2016, Bugle Boys (dis)graced The Famous Spiegeltent in Canberra, and the following month packed houses at the prestigious Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

UK hun?

Building on the show’s Australian success, a UK production of Bugle Boys is currently in development, due to hit Edinburgh stages this summer for a scratch night run, followed by a full run at the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Edinburgh show will star an all-new cast of UK talent, and a freshly adapted script by John.

It’s being co-produced by Moira again, with Civil Disobedience, and is being directed by Barry Church-Woods.
