Dear Pete,

We think you’re awfully swell and we’re so incredibly pleased to be co-producing your one-hander, ‘Show Up‘, at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

We promise we will show up. And we’ll bring friends. Not that you need our friends, really. By all accounts, Show Up is doing very well indeed in New York City. We hear it’s a bit of a masterclass in improvisation and audience participation. Apparently, it’s practically raining gushy reviews over at the PIT Loft!

It’s a fine craft, weaving a story out of random suggestions from your audience and making it all work to great comedic effect. Especially given that most of us are positively terrified of anything “interactive”, where theatre and comedy is concerned. It’s a skill we already knew you have, and we’re waiting with bated breath for the chance to enjoy it in action again, in this current project.

So a big old well done to you, dear chum; we are of course exceptionally proud of you and can’t wait to work together on this side of the Atlantic!

We look forward to seeing you soon, doll. In the meantime, we’ve taking the liberty of sharing a small selection of pull quotes from your reviewers below.

Much love,

Joe & Barry

Marino takes the old saw of using our suggestions to plot out an improvised story. But that is just the icing on the cake. Prior to that, he ushers us down an autobiographical lane that is both hilarious and sincere. … It is a spot on piece of “let’s have fun” that works on so many levels.  *****

Unlike that hackneyed device familiar to anyone who’s ever suffered through a less-than-stellar solo show, Marino made each sip of water seem like a breath of fresh air.
