This isn’t exactly hot off the press, but the last 10 months have been relentlessly difficult for everyone, and it’s not felt like a good time to be sharing self-congratulatory news.

However, at this point – with our industry beaten black and blue and another lockdown looming – we’re desperately trying to move forward with a positive attitude and put ourselves out there again.

Despite the radio silence that followed this achievement from our end, we are super-proud to have been named ‘Leading Producers in Performance Art’ at the 2019 Scottish Enterprise Awards last December. And perhaps even more pleased that our labour of love and flagship, in-house production, Jock Tamson’s Bairns, took home ‘Most Innovative Immersive Production’.

Leading Producers in Performance Art 2019
Most Innovative Immersive Production: Jock Tamson’s Bairns

Like most of our friends and colleagues in the arts, we’ve worked extremely hard since we set up shop a few years ago to support amazing projects, contribute to artistic activism and generate opportunities for artists with something to say – all the while trying (and often failing) to make ends meet.

Our end game has always been to get to a position where we can spend most of out time creating our own work, telling the stories we want to tell, and Jock Tamson’s Bairns was (still is, to an extent) our jumping off point.

Of course we’d hoped that 2020 would be a year for harnessing the momentum of our 2019 Creative Scotland funding and limited Free Fringe run. It’s fair to say that things didn’t work out the way we wanted, and we reckon it’s going to be a rough ride going forward too.

But getting recognition for all our hard work and everything we’ve put into Jock Tamson’s Bairns is so encouraging. And finally shouting about these Scottish Enterprise Awards wins feels like a good way to bookmark this sad year and look ahead with renewed determination.

Here’s hoping that we’ll all find a way to rise from the ashes left by this pandemic and come up with new, creative and rewarding ways to make art and protest together in 2021 and beyond.

Much love to you all.
